Well, my mom's 90th Birthday has come and gone with a wonderful Sunday celebration this past weekend. I am fortunate to have so many friends (who don't even know her) to come to help us celebrate. That's what good friends do! Aurora was "Queen for the Day" and absolutely enjoyed herself. I hope that I have at least half her character and all of her youthful looks when I reach her age. She is now 90 years old! Yet, Aurora says she is still 75 years old "in her head".
Posts to Raccupine Farms reflect "Life in our Shoes". For me it means practicing Yoga and Nia, helping my husband, Nathan, in our organic vegetable garden, getting enough sleep, and re-embracing a “so cool” relationship with my husband. Life..is..SO..good! Turns out, this blog is a love story of sorts, for healthy living, nurturing relationships, and building community.

“We were on a break!” Ah, but Thanksgiving beckons…

Amazing Grace (& Greens) of Okra Leaves
Well “I just went ahead and did it!” No--though not as exciting as a facelift--I ate okra leaves. Now you probably have to be fairly desperate to eat okra leaves, which I found out through firsthand experience, since they are not easy to soften up for eating.

The Abundance of Avocados
Have I mentioned that our 30-foot avocado tree has yielded at least 30 avocados so far this summer? All have been a little over a pound and, when they ripen, their nuttiness is a taste of heaven and they spread like butter. Nathan planted this treasure from one avocado pit in a pot when he came to live here. We have waited about eleven years for this tree to bear this much fruit.
